The LHS girls basketball team went face-to-face with the Brandon Valley Lynx last night, Monday, Feb. 27. The girls made the eastward journey to the Brandon Valley basketball court to play the first round of Districts.

The game began abruptly with LHS with the tip and a quick layup from Jada Hallman, her first two points of the ten that game. The first quarter consisted of quick plays and a promise of a close game. The end of the second quarter told a different story though with the Brandon Valley Lynx pulling ahead to end the first half with a 12 point lead.

“We really wanted to get back into the game going into the third quarter,” said LHS guard Anna Brecht. “We got it back within 8 points and then Brandon pulled ahead again making a lot of quick shots.”

The rest of the game followed suit with the Pats trailing the Lynx. The final outcome was LHS with 45 points and Brandon Valley with 66 points.

“We have beat Washington twice this year so I think we have a lot of confidence going into the second District game,” said Brecht. “I think that will play a big part for us to get that win.”

The LHS girls basketball team will play the WHS Warriors in the next round of Districts. The game will take place at LHS on Thursday at 7 p.m. and the Pats need a strong student body there to support their advancement in the District games.
