Eagles flying with a broken wing

For football fans all around the world, it is never easy to hear about an injury that takes a player out of the game for the rest of the season, especially if that player is one of the most popular players in the market. This Monday, Dec. 11, Carson Wentz was diagnosed with a torn ACL. Being an MVP candidate and league leader in passing touchdowns, the Philadelphia Eagles will have to find a way to play at the elite level they have been at all year.

In Sundays matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, Wentz took a big hit causing his knee to collapse inward, eventually causing the ACL to tear. Being the team leader, Wentz’s presence will be highly missed by this squad. This season, Wentz has averaged a 60.2 completion percentage, 253.4 YPG, 33 TD’s and a 101.9 out of 158.3 passer rating. These individual stats have led to the league’s best record of 11-2.

With playoffs right around the corner, the Eagles have to rely on backup quarterback Nick Foles. Foles will look to pick up where Wentz left off. Being a hefty task of filling Wentz’s shoes, Foles is more than ready and equipped to lead this team back to the Superbowl for the first time since 2004. With star-caliber weapons at wide receiver and running back, Foles will have plenty of weapons to get the job done.

Although it has been sometime since the Eagles have made the playoffs, they have already clinched a playoff berth by defeating the Rams 43-35. In the high scoring affair, the eagles both gained a playoff spot and lost a MVP candidate in the mix too. With three games left in the season against the New York Giants, the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys, Foles will have plenty of time to get adjusted and gear up for a Superbowl run.
