Organizing rock concerts for the environment? Senior Nick Christopherson does that, and many other things like winning Mr. LHS, being the head of E.I. (environmental ingenuity) club and working hard in the classroom.  For all that he has accomplished, he was named by teachers to be highlighted as student of the week.

As humble as they come, Christopherson attributes his many successes and achievements in and out of the classroom to those he surrounds himself with.

“The saying ‘show me your friends, and I’ll show you your future’ really applies to me,” said Christopherson. “I’m lucky enough to have friends who are really disciplined with their studies, and I think that some of their commitment rubs off on me.”

It takes a village to raise a person who is as caring about his studies and outside issues like the environment as Christopherson is, and he believes that he owes any success to those he has grown with.

“I think the only thing that is different about me from other students, is that I have been lucky to have the people in my life I have around me,” said Christopherson. “I have really good friends and very supportive parents who have always pushed me in the right direction.”

Many know Christopherson through his part in E.I. club, which he has helped in their goal to install more sustainable drinking fountains in the halls of LHS.

“For me, E.I. club is a way to contribute to society. The saying ‘think globally, act locally’ is a good guide and reminder to keep the club active within LHS,” said Christopherson. “There have already been some significant changes made in society and in government in regard to sustainability, however I would love to see additional changes made.”

Past high school, Christopherson has noble long term goals that would carry him on the path he started here at LHS with his involvement in E.I. club, and it would serve as no shock to those who know him if he achieves his goals.

“E.I. club is all about influence and inciting change within our community in order to make a real global different” said Christopherson. “I would ideally love to in the future creative productive yet sustainable systems that could be implemented into underdeveloped areas in order to enact local and global sustainable change.
