Fischer- fine arts student of the week

When considering a student to be a “something” of the week, teachers need to take many qualities into account. They have to be able to identify why one person stands out over the other 100 kids they see every day, and in an area like fine arts, which many students take part in because they were a standout at an earlier point and want to refine their skills, it can be an even bigger challenge.  This week, teacher Kathy Ferguson saw something in sophomore Jackson Fischer, and chose him as this week’s fine arts student of the week.

Fischer was selected because of his dramatic improvement in only two short years of singing, an improvement Ferguson attributes to daily hard work.

“I really see his voice developing,” said Ferguson. “He is becoming a stronger singer and sight reader. I can really hear the difference of his voice from this year to last year, and it has been a really nice progression in the sound of his voice.”

Fischer is no doubt a talented singer, but he stands out in many other ways.

“He is a really great kid all-around,” said Ferguson. “He is really involved, and he’s a really great person. He is considerate of others, and he is really leading well this year- as a sophomore.”

Fischer is able to be even more well-rounded because of his participation in other activities. He keeps busy, remains responsible and handles what is thrown at him.

“He is in color guard, and I believe this is his second year in that,” said Ferguson. “I’m guessing he has a pretty rigorous schedule. I see him as being a very driven and motivated kid.”
