The Accountant” is an action-filled, R rated, crime/drama film that was released on Oct. 14, 2016. It encompasses the life of an accountant, Christian Wolff, who goes by many different aliases, and has a very high-functioning form of autism.

Ever since he was little, Christian was different. His mind worked in a special way and he was always extremely talented with numbers, but because of his autism he was picked on and beat up at school. His father was in the military and moved often, so it was hard for Christian to live in a stable environment. He was very hard on Christian and his younger brother, Braxton, so he brought them around the world to train with different fighters and learn to stand up for themselves. This plays a vital role in the careers that both boys eventually have.

The movie begins with a flashback scene of a shooting, and soon transfers to real time where Christian Wolff, played by Ben Affleck, is an accountant for his small firm ZZZ Accounting. Later, the audience finds out that behind the scenes Christian is the accountant for some very bad people, and there are many people after him including criminals and the FBI. Christian is hired by a client, Living Robotics, to find out a major financial discrepancy in their financial books, and he meets a woman from the accounting department who he grows to care very much for, Dana Cummings (played by Anna Kendrick). Between the two, they discover that $61 million is missing from the company. As they try to figure out where the money went, and which of the high-ranking executives of the company did it, the criminals after Christian force the CFO of Living Robotics to kill himself with threats in order to make it seem as if he stole the money. Throughout the rest of the movie, Christian shows off his fighting and shooting skills while more secrets unfold and the drama rises, along with the death count.

Viewers are drawn in with flashbacks all throughout the movie that seem confusing at first, but then come together in the end. Shocking plot twists occur and keep viewers on the edge of their seats. Affleck does an excellent job of portraying Christian Wolff by embracing his character. Also, Kendrick was perfect for her role because she gave the movie the little bit of quirkiness and laughter that it needed since the film overall is very serious. The only disappointing part of the movie is that it was not very realistic during a few parts, especially when Christian takes on multiple men bigger than him and rarely gets hurt.

Overall, “The Accountant” is a solid movie that is full of suspense and action. With many well-known actors, the characters are well portrayed and come together nicely as they embody their roles. Anyone looking for an entertaining night should make sure to hit the theaters and see “The Accountant” because it is an A+ movie and highly recommended.
