With October just beginning, the leaves have started to change, the air is just a little bit cooler, little kids well with excitement about Halloween approaching and the MLB postseason gets into full swing. The teams lucky enough to stay alive in the hunt for the pennant play through the month of October, trying to become the best of the best. In the spirit of baseball, a must-see movie for people who do not want the season to end is “The Sandlot.”

For those who have not seen “The Sandlot,” it follows a group of baseball-loving kids and the adventures they go on throughout the summer, which is set in the 1960s. Scotty Smalls (Tom Guiry) is the new kid in town and he manages to befriend a group of kids who play baseball all summer long at the sandlot. Smalls finds his closest friend in Benny (Mike Vitar), who has the dream of making it big as a professional baseball player. Their adventures include pools and lifeguards, rival baseball teams and losing a famously signed baseball to an infamous dog.

As their trials continued to retrieve the baseball, which was signed by none other than Babe Ruth, the group found that they had to count on one another after endless mishaps trying to get the ball back. Even though this movie has to do with baseball, it embodies so much more. It is a coming of age story that shows how friendships can last a lifetime. As they grow up, the memories the kids make stay with them forever. The bond they create does not break, and that can be seen through Smalls and Benny’s relationship.

Since MLB Playoffs are starting, this movie can bring back those childhood memories the players have, and how they shared the same dream as Smalls and Benny. “The Sandlot” shows how everyone starts out somewhere, and can achieve their dreams with the help of their friends and the bond they create. The movie can remind the pros where they started out, as kids with a dream playing at the sandlot.
