In most high school sports you see the varsity team as the best of the best and mostly composed of juniors and seniors. Every so often, there is a special player that reaches a varsity spot in their first or second year. Braedon Treadway is that special player.

LHS sophomore Treadway is a part of the wrestling team and has shown his dominance the last two years. Treadway is in the 160 weight class and stands at six feet and three inches tall. This year Treadway is a top four wrestler on the team with 14 wins and seven pins with a long season to go.

LHS wrestling coach Mark Ernster believes that Treadway’s build has a lot to do with his wrestling success.

“He has long gorilla arms for cradles,” said Ernster. “You do not see too many long, lengthy wrestlers. His build is tough for the competition to handle.”

Treadway’s hard work has got him to a varsity spot as just a sophomore. With two and a half seasons to go in his LHS wrestling career, Ernster believes his future with the LHS wrestling team is extremely bright.

“Treadway is a hard-working, serious kid,” said Ernster. “He is only a second year wrestler with a lot of room for improvement for his junior and senior year. He has a very bright future for this wrestling team.”

Along with his 14 wins and seven pins, Treadway has one major and one tech fall. The wrestling team has a little over a month to prepare for the state wrestling tournament that is held at the end of Feb. 24-25 in Sioux Falls.
