Many classic Disney movies have been remade to live action for the big screen. Some of these movies include “Cinderella,” “Alice in Wonderland,” “The Jungle Book” and more. This year another is added to the collection… “Beauty and the Beast.” Emma Watson and Dan Stevens will star in the recreation of the 1991 animated film as Belle and the Beast.

Actress Emma Watson is the perfect Belle and she has always wanted to play this character. In fact, she turned down the lead role in the recent remake of “Cinderella.” At the time, she did not know about the character of Belle that she would later sign to. She felt a relation to the Beauty and the Beast character because of similar qualities to herself.

“There’s this kind of outsider quality that Belle had, and the fact she had this really empowering defiance of what was expected of her,” said Watson of the role she chose. “In a strange way, she challenges the status quo of the place she lives in, and I found that really inspiring.”

Crafting a remake of one of the most classic animated movies of all time is tough to do. In the 1992 Academy Awards, “Beauty and the Beast” became the first animated movie to be nominated for Best Picture. At the end of the night, the movie ended up with an award in the Best Musical Score category. Following this prestigious award, the score for the new edition will be done by Alan Menken who has two academy awards himself.

The film will feature multiple new editions of the classic songs that will be included in the soundtrack released on Mar. 10. Releasing the album one week before the release date will bring even more excitement surrounding the new movie. Ariana Grande and John Legend have recorded the title song, “Beauty and the Beast” which will provide a new twist.

There is no doubt that Disney will do an excellent job with this live action edition of one of the greatest animated movies, and storylines, of all time. Watch the trailer and get excited, time is winding down to the release date!
