When deciding who is going to be Student of the Week, teachers look at many different qualities. They look at how students participate in classes, their attitude in and outside of the classroom and just what makes them a well-rounded person. This week, the JROTC Student of the Week is freshman cadet Harley Robinson.

“We chose her because she participates in all of the team activities for JROTC,” said Sgt. Campbell. “She’s on the drill team, color guard, volunteers for color guard for our sporting events and she’s also in the marksmanship program.”

Although Robinson is involved with so many extracurricular activities, such as the patriot pride committee, she still manages to find time where she can to help others. Whether that is within the school or in the surrounding communities, Robinson has a passion for helping others and that is why her teachers chose her.

“What makes her stand out above and beyond, though, is that she volunteers her time for the community and she also volunteers her time after school to help out her fellow cadets,” said Sgt. Campbell. “She helps bring them up to speed and if someone was to come up and say they needed help, she always says ‘yes I’ll be there.’”

Being involved and giving her time to help others is what makes Robinson an exceptional student, but that is not all. Robinson is only a freshman, so there is no telling what she will accomplish in the next three years.

“This is her first year, so she’s a freshman, which is very surprising that we get someone of that caliber starting out, so young and so fast,” said Sgt. Campbell. “We are very proud of her and we are very lucky to have her. She is definitely going to be a star in the program. There is no doubt about that.”
