The first Friday of each month, several downtown Sioux Falls businesses put their collaborative skills to work as they piece together a number of festivities for the general public to participate in. However, the majority of these events cost little-to-nothing to attend, making First Fridays a perfect night out for students.

Coffea Roasterie, located on the corner of Phillips Avenue and 10th Street, typically hosts a local musician for a free concert in honor of First Fridays. Along with the chill jams, Coffea continues to serve coffee late into the evening.

Next door, Vishnu Bunny hosts a free art show containing artwork from local artists, most of the pieces for sale, being displayed for the entire month. Like Coffea, Vishnu occasionally organizes concerts featuring local musicians for First Fridays.

From 4 p.m. to 8 p.m., The Washington Pavilion provides free admission to the Kirby Science Discovery Center and the Visual Arts Center, along with discounted tickets to the CineDome.

Although a handful of the smaller stores and restaurants downtown do not host events for First Fridays, the majority of shops and eateries have special discounts in honor of the day. Art shows, poetry slams, various themed events and concerts featuring local artists are just a fraction of the festivities provided by DTSF. Each month has a new variety of events and raffles, more businesses choosing to participate in the celebration of another month spent in the ever-expanding Sioux Falls.
