Traditions are a part of any school, especially LHS. The annual English Language Learners (ELL) matball tournament, the Leprechaun Slam-A-Thon, homecoming dress up days, every school dance and the Mr. LHS competition are just fractions of what make up our school’s traditions.

The Mr. LHS competition was started seven years ago and is anticipated to continue for years to come. A night filled with obnoxious dancing, cheesy pick-up lines, ridiculous outfits and some very interesting talents is sure to be a night students do not want to miss. This year was no exception for Mr. LHS winner and senior, Daniel Gertner.

“Going into the competition, I do my best to put together a quality routine and enjoy myself while doing it,” said Gertner. “It’s not serious or competitive, but I like to make sure that I can be entertaining.”

Mr. LHS is considered to be a light-hearted and comical event that brings the school together in a new way. With some of the most outgoing males at LHS putting on a show in attempt to take home the crown, it left everyone holding their stomachs and sitting on the edge of their seat.

“Mr. LHS has allowed me to find a creative and, I hope, entertaining outlet for a few of my interests,” said Gertner. “Coming up with jokes, talents and pick-up lines can be more challenging than a person would think, but it’s rewarding when people enjoy the final product.”

With this year’s competition ending as another success we will all look forward to seeing what next year’s contestants can bring to the stage.
