Prom 2017
April 24, 2017
This past Saturday night, LHS celebrated their prom at the El Riad shrine downtown. The prom started at 9 p.m. and went late into the light until 12:30 a.m.
The prom theme this year was Paris. The El Riad Shrine ballroom was adorned in decorations that captured the feel of the city of lights. In one corner of the dance floor, there was a 13-foot sculpture of the Eiffel Tower and the Paris cityscape outlined in lights surrounding the dance floor. The Prom Committee also set up a model of the arch of triumph, another iconic symbol of Paris. Refreshments were also enjoyed by guests. Punch, cheesecake bites and strawberries were available to everyone. When students were not dancing they were taking pictures at the photo booth or sitting at tables enjoying punch.
The music was an enjoyable mix of modern classics, hype music, slow songs and songs with dances to them. Students could be seen dancing together in large dance circles or just jumping around in the crowd of people. Boxes were also set out on the dance floor for seniors to rise above the crowd. The DJ also set up a fog machine and lights that added an exciting atmosphere to the dance floor.
In all, the LHS students enjoyed a phenomenal prom and had a night to remember with this LHS dance. Seniors will remember it as their final dance and last hoorah as an LHS Patriot, where they went out to eat with their best friends, busted a move and generally had a blast.
