With the NFL season kicking off this weekend many fans sat down to watch their favorite teams play. With new faces on each team and new celebration rules, fans were excited to see what the new season had in store.

The first week was very exciting and had some great matchups. Some major events that took place in the first week include Adrian Peterson going up against his old team, last year’s Super Bowl champions the New England Patriots suffering a week one loss to the Kansas City Chiefs and Odell Beckham Jr. not playing due to an ankle injury.

The start of a new season means new players on each team. With the 2017 NFL Draft taking place back in April, many of the rookies that were drafted were ready to make their mark on the league. The first week was the perfect stage to do exactly that. Some rookies that took advantage of  their opportunities include Minnesota Vikings running back Dalvin Cook who rushed for 127 yards,

and lead his team to a 29-19 win. Another standout was Deshaun Watson who threw for 102 yards and one TD. After what we saw in week one the future of the NFL looks very bright.

In “America’s Game of the Week” the Green Bay Packers faced off against the Seattle Seahawks. The first half was a defensive clinic put on by both teams. The score was a 0-0 until two minutes remaining in the first half. The Seahawks had the ball around their own 20 yard line. Running and passing his way down the field, Seahawks QB Russell Wilson crafted a masterful drive, leading to a last second 33 yard field goal field goal. This gave the Seahawks the lead heading into the locker room. The second half was dominated by the Packers, Aaron Rodgers was cooking and began to pick apart Seattle’s defence. In total he went 28/42 for 311 yards and one TD.  The game ended in a 17-9 Packers victory.

Heading into week two it seems that NFL fans have a lot to look forward to.
