The winter formal season is just starting, and girls are starting to look into cute dresses. This year, most are looking to online sites to find their formal wear. In Sioux Falls, finding a dress is not as easy as it sounds, but online one has access to about every dress imaginable.

“I lean on online sites to find my dresses and I like to look for dresses well before December,” said sophomore Taylor Raak. “I feel as if people tend to find and get the same dresses when you shop close to the event. It is also hard to find a dress that is not similar to others, that is why I would recommend shopping for your dress way ahead of time.”

Since it is during the winter season, most dresses consist of darker colors like black, maroon and dark blue. Some other popular online sites girls shop on to find dresses would be Lulu’s, Boohoo, Free People, Zara and Urban Outfitters.

“I like to find my dresses at Lulu’s,” said Raak. “They are super cute, trendy, but also a reasonable price. You do not really notice how expensive a dance is until you start to look at what you all want. Personally, I usually get a dress, a pair of shoes, and sometimes I may get my hair and makeup professionally done. This all together can add up to around $150-$200.”

Formal can be one expensive event, but it can be worth the money.

“Formal may be expensive, but it is just as fun,” said Raak. “Everyone is in such a good mood, and you get to dress-up, dance and hang out with your friends. I mean, what’s better?”
