People from all over the world have marvelled at the fast-growing fad of wavy eyebrows. Although the trend has not quite reached the area, it is still alive and well. However, some ponder whether or not they are legitimate. Are they magic, or are they a mistake?

The popular eyebrow fad began towards the beginning of August and quickly picked up attention on Instagram and Twitter. Although many seem to be disgusted by the trend, some Youtubers such as grav3yardgirl seem to be fixated by it, creating tutorial videos and showing how the trend works. Katie Pabst, an LHS teacher and dance coach, has much to say about the fad.

“The wavy eyebrow fad hasn’t hit Sioux Falls yet because I think it’s bizarre and personally I would never do it,” said Pabst. “If there were any style of dance where the theme would fit the wavy eyebrow fad, we would maybe potentially [incorporate the fad in an outfit]. Currently as of this year, [we won’t].”

Costumes and outfits are a major part of the dance team as they can add to the overall vibe of the dance that could potentially add points to their score. Pabst believes that the fad may die out sooner than it started and thinks that there are cheaper alternatives. According to Ulta Beauty, the average cost to get eyebrows done is about $25. Although this is a decent alternative to trial and error, Pabst proposes trying to pencil them in yourself for maximum savings.

“If [the wavy eyebrows] went with some type of costume or some character I was going to be for halloween, then maybe [I would try them],” said Pabst. “But day-to-day in my classroom, then no, because then I feel like I would have students staring at me really funny.”
