Although there are over 50 different makeup companies/lines in the U.S., many women of color are unable to find a makeup shade that matches their skin tone. Rihanna’s recently created makeup line by Fenty is bringing joy to women whose skin tones were underrepresented in the makeup world.

This highly recognized makeup line contains foundation, lip gloss, bronzers, highlighters and blushes. Rihanna’s main focus was to base the line around complexion; she wanted to represent all the different colors of skin tones.

“The biggest challenge was making sure that each product covered all skin tones, and it was a challenge I was up for,” said Rihanna, according to Bazaar. “Diversity and inclusivity are important to the brand. I hope that fans, makeup lovers and makeup artists feel that.”

The liquid foundation has an astonishing 40 shades. Some of the lightest shades were made to match women affected by Albinism, a condition which affects the melanin produced in the skin.

Women are not only impressed by the variety of color that it brings but also the affordability of it. The foundation costs $34. This may sound expensive for a small tube of makeup, but other brands like Estee Lauder and Hourglass charge around $50 or more for a tube of foundation.

The reviews of the makeup show how content customers are with the products.

“Absolutely amazing and worth the investment!” said a reviewer, according to Fenty Beauty. “You made me love my skin color.”

This makeup line is proving to other lines that there are not only a few standard skin colors that women need for makeup. Fenty beauty is being rewarded with its high amount of sales for catering to women of all colors.
