On September 22, Autumn finally arrived in our Northern Hemisphere, bringing along its perfect weather and changing colors. Don’t get me wrong, the other seasons are great. Fall is just better than the rest. Here are just a few reasons why:

1. Perfect weather: Fall holds the perfect mix between the frigid cold winters and the blazing hot summers of the Midwest. Just a jacket will keep you warm enough to enjoy time outside.
2. Changing leaves: Fall is a season of color. All of the trees turn beautiful shades of red, orange, yellow and brown. We can all agree this is a good change before the white sheet of winter.
3. Scary movies: Who doesn’t love being scared out of their mind?
4. Halloween: Dressing up, treat-or-treating or spending time with friends. However you spend the holiday, it is definitely a highlight of fall.
5. Haunted Houses: Going to Jaycee’s with a date or a group of friends is perfect way to get into the spooky spirit.
6. Corn mazes: Getting lost in the middle of a corn maze may seem scary, but finding your way out is the fun part. Try the Heartland Corn Maze either during the normal season or on haunted maze nights.
7. Carving pumpkins: There are endless possibilities to make the pumpkin personal and creative. Plus, who doesn’t love roasted pumpkin seeds?
8. Apple Orchard: Whether it be to go take cute pictures or get some of Sioux Fall’s finest fruit, everyone can find something fun to do.
9. Comfy clothes: Fall is when we can finally pull out our favorite sweaters, jackets and boots without being too hot or cold. Bundling up has never been more fun.
10. Warm drinks: On cold mornings, nothing is better than warming up with a cup of hot apple cider.  
11. Thanksgiving: Family, friends and plenty of food, enough said.

Many LHS students, just like me, wait all year for this perfect season to arrive. From scary haunted houses to the perfect weather outside, Fall’s fun features secure its place as the best season.
