With the FCC vote 3-2, Net Neutrality is repealed as we know it. The FCC is getting a lawsuit and backlash from across the nation.

The votes were in the hands of five people, leaving everyone else out of the decision. However, with this amount of backlash against the FCC vote, the courts and Congress are going to step in to try and veto what the vote decided.

Recently, there are many steps that are being taken to ensure that this is not the end of the fight.

“[Net Neutrality] got repealed,” said LHS junior Will Howes. “People are mad. A lot of people learned about it and why they should be mad. The battle is moving to the courts and into Congress. Congress has the ability to pass legislation that will veto [the repeal] and the courts have the ability to fight a battle where the FCC cannot legally do what they have done.”

For those passionate about trying to save the Internet and continue their fight for Net Neutrality, they still have some options left as far as actions go.

“I would recommend going to BattleForTheNet,” said Howes. “They always have the latest [information].You can still put in your number and call Congress. It’s even more important [to call] now because if we gave up right now the legislation would pass and we would lose.”

While promises by Internet Service Providers, such as Comcast, AT&T and Verizon have been to minimize change, there are undercover changes that costumers should be aware of. The changes will be felt, however, by everyone, making it that much more important to make sure to fight back against the Net Neutrality repeal.

“A lot of companies say they will not be splitting up the internet,” said Howes. “But at the same time, they are saying that for consumers ‘nothing will change’. At the same time, [ISPs] will go around charging businesses and especially Comcast is gonna delegate their own streaming service to fast lanes and everything else is slow lanes.”
