Within the past few weeks, The Denny Sanford Premier Center has announced several concerts that will be taking place in the coming months. As a growing Sioux Falls continues to supply the demand for popular entertainment, concertgoers are relishing in the news of rock bands Imagine Dragons and Metallica coming to our city later this year.

Imagine Dragons accumulated popularity over their hit “Radioactive” and have since sold 12 million albums and 35 million singles worldwide. The band’s growth throughout their nine years of making music has carried their sound into the hearts of listeners of all ages. With Imagine Dragons debuting their first appearance held at The Premier Center this June, tickets continue to sell in the months leading up to the June 26 show – sparking a wave of interest in the Sioux Falls community.

Metallica, a band first formed in 1981, last performed in Sioux Falls at the Arena in 1992: nearly 26 years ago. Since then, the rock band has continued making music while earning an additional younger fan base. With Metallica hitting the stage on Sept. 11 of this year, the anticipation is only just beginning as the demand for tickets increases. Metallica’s ability to stay relevant in today’s surge of modern music solidifies the band’s capability of selling out enormous venues across the world – venues similar to our very own Premier Center.

With ticket prices ranging from $100 to $300, heafty prices are not stopping local Sioux Falls buyers. In the months leading up to both the Imagine Dragons and Metallica concerts, sales are expected to increase even more than they already have: igniting interest by both Sioux Falls and the surrounding communities.

“I think it’s cool that famous groups are coming to Sioux Falls,” said LHS senior Mariah Dokken. “Because South Dakota doesn’t normally host many major acts, it’s awesome that, now, we are able to see the singers we look up to perform in our own city.”
