TED Talks are an integral part of every student’s education. The short speeches featuring “ideas worth sharing” are often used as an inspirational teaching tool in LHS classrooms. In late March, the Argus Leader reported that a TEDx event would be held in Sioux Falls, the first since 2014.

TEDx talks are independently organized events that feature talks in the TED format. The Sioux Falls event will take place on April 11 at the Museum of Visual Materials. The lead organizer is Thadeus Giedd.

“It’s very rewarding to see these nine people get the spotlight and use this TED platform to share their inspirational messages and boost their reach,” said Giedd to the Argus Leader.

The nine speakers were selected from a group of 90 candidates who submitted applications in February. A variety of topics will be shared, including leadership, African Americans in South Dakota and how a person’s name can impact their life.

Tickets for the Sioux Falls TEDx event have sold out, but the talks will be available to view online. Details on speakers are available at the website siouxfallstedx.com.
