James Charles scandal update:

Many have seen #JamesCharlesIsCancelled all over social media over this past weekend. Over three million people have unsubscribed from the beauty influencer James Charles’ YouTube page since because of his feud with fellow beauty blogger Tati Westbrook. Charles saw his Instagram followers drop from 16.5 million to 13.8 million by Monday morning.

The real tea started back in April when Charles posted pictures of himself advertising SugarBear Hair, which is Westbrook’s hair care rival brand. Westbrook then posted a video of saying how “hurt,” “lonely” and “betrayed” she felt, but did not discuss who she was talking about. However, it was very obvious she was calling out Charles for supporting her rival even though she is like a mother figure to him. Charles then attempted to apologize to Westbrook in a video, but Westbrook was fed up, especially after Charles’ friend Gabriel Zamora posted of video of him dragging Tati’s name through the mud and calling her “fraudulent.” Westbrook clapped back with a 43-minute video titled “BYE SISTER,” in which she accused Charles of being unsupportive, attacked him for spreading lies, slammed him about comments he made regarding other beauty influencers and claimed he had a habit of sexually harassing straight men.

Charles later released an 8-minute apology video to his own page titled “Tati,” in which he was crying and “apologizing” about everything that happened. Charles admitted, “there’s nothing I can say or do to ever earn that friendship and trust back.” Westbrook decided to end the entire feud publically so she could just be done with all the fake “friends”.

Many brave young men have come out and spoken about their encounters with James Charles. One of them specifically talked about how in high school, Charles would catfish boys on sports teams pretending to be a girl to get them to send him explicit pictures. In previous years, Charles has called the sexual pursuit of straight men a “challenge.” Charles’ predatory actions are coming to life on Twitter and other social media fronts, and people are taking a stand against him. While Charles has lost three million followers, Westbrook has gained over five million followers on her YouTube channel. Check out BuzzFeed and Google news to see updates on the feud.
