Twitter’s Moments of the Decade
December 17, 2019
As the monumental decade of the 2010s comes to a close, some apps have decided to take a look back at some of the most memorable events, videos, and tweets, in the case of Twitter. Using #TwitterMomentsOfTheDecade, users are able to post popular moments from the past ten years onto a thread. Here is a list of ten moments that made the thread:
The Petty Dance
When Cameron Henderson posted a video of himself with the Starrkeisha Cheer Squad, dancing and singing to his song “Petty,” it spread through Twitter like wildfire. Thousands of people attempted to remake and perform duets of the song with their friends.
The Substitute Teacher
This viral video of a substitute teacher taking attendance caught the eyes of many as it portrays the struggle of pronouncing names of students. Although substitute teachers are not likely to clear off desks and yell in frustration during roll call, the dramatic actions added comedy that appealed to its viewers.
Jones BBQ and Foot Massage
After an advertisement for a barbeque and foot massage restaurant was posted, it was viewed by many immediately. The catchy jingle of the commercial was bound to be stuck in your head for the rest of the day.
The Changing Dress
Is it white and gold, or blue and black? If you think it is blue and black, you are right.
Steve Harvey
During the Miss Universe pageant in 2015, Steve Harvey incorrectly crowned Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutiérrez the winner instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach… awkward.
Avocado
Look at his manners, how cute!
Croissant
There is nothing worse than almost dropping your croissant.
Making Little Kids Disappear
The trend of making children believe they have disappeared became popular in the past two years. The video went viral after the little girl begged to be changed back, believing that she did indeed disappear.
Trey and His Basketball Game
Where is Trey now? How did his basketball game go? Does he still play basketball? I have so many questions.
Bronchitis
This news interview about a house fire went viral when a woman explained the sequence of events that unfolded. One phrase within the interview – explaining why she had to get out of the house so fast – caught on: “I got bronchitis, ain’t nobody got time for that.” Legendary.
