After a few years of taking a break to create new music with new band members, The Lumineers have returned to the stage to perform their new album “III.”

Located just outside of Chicago, the Allstate Arena served as a perfect venue to experience The Lumineers live. The arena felt intimate as the stage stretched out half-way across the floor, making it easy for the band to venture out and interact. Having five band members, every part of the stage was always being used by guitars, drums, pianos, the violin and various other instruments included in the show.

Before The Lumineers took stage, the two openers, J.S Ondara and Mt. Joy, lit up the stage with their upbeat alt-folk music. They are two well known artists that had fans on their feet singing the words to their songs, getting the place ready for the show. Later on in the show, both openers joined The Lumineers on stage and collaborated for a few songs.

With bright yellow and green lights and the loud chords of the song “Sleep On The Floor,” The Lumineers appeared, starting off with one of their best and most popular songs. It has a catchy beat, making it easy to clap and stomp along. Throughout the concert, the band intertwined their new album along with a large amount of their old songs. They performed a few covers of various artists’ songs and gave background to how some songs came to be.

The Lumineers filmed and created an intricate storyline and short film that followed along with the album “III.” Focusing on drugs, alcohol and neglect, the band was able to produce music that many are able to connect to. In the background of the stage, the short filmed played alongside the songs, giving the audience a unique way to follow along with the story all while singing the songs.

The Lumineers are all around above average artists full of many talents. The way they use so many instruments and continue to make chart breaking music proves that they are a band that is worth paying for. Their concerts are an experience that is unforgettable.
