The current Netflix phenomenon “All American” is sweeping through social media and catching the eyes of most teenagers. The popularity and social hype are backed up by the fact that this show is trending at #3 in the U.S today.

“All American” is based on a true story of the NFL Superbowl Champion, Spencer Paysinger. In the show, a highschooler, Spencer James, plays football for Crenshaw, but then transfers to Beverly High. When James transfers schools, viewers meet the two different worlds he ends up living in, and the challenges he faces throughout his time in both of his homes. LHS senior Emma Osmundson has spent some of her time quarantined watching “All American.”

“My favorite part of the show is learning more about Spencer’s life and how he deals with the gangs and problems in Crenshaw,” said Osmundson. “The characters are really good and the story line is really interesting. Also since it’s inspired by a true story that adds a twist to it!”

What sets this show apart from other popular shows is character development. As a viewer, you ache and feel each and every emotion that the main characters experience. Not only do you sympathize alongside the characters, but you are exposed to the vast differences between his two worlds and the imperfections of each. On a side note, the cast is easy on the eyes, which is not a downfall. But, I am not the only one who believes this.

“My favorite character is Jordan because he is good looking,” said Osmundson

If you are searching for your next show to binge-watch, or if you would rather take your time and enjoy the show during this corona-cation, “All American” is a great place to start. I promise it will not disappoint.
