US Soccer mens national team looks to move forward with young talent

For decades the U.S. Men’s National soccer team has had no success. The USMNT has made one World Cup final, which was in 1930, the first ever World Cup. After that the USMNT only qualified for two more World Cups in the next 24 years. From 1950-1990 the USMNT did noy qualify for a single World Cup and then they qualified for the next six World Cups, making it to the round of 16 in 1994. In 2018, the USMNT did not qualify for the World Cup once again and now look to get back into the action in the 2022 World Cup.
For the past 90 years, not many U.S. players have had success in the top leagues in Europe or even played in them. In 2015 USMNT captain and young superstar Christain Pulisic took a different route than most and is paving a new way for the young US talent. Pulisic signed to play with Borussia Dortmund, a powerhouse in the Bundesliga, one of the top leagues in the world. In 2019, Pulisic signed for Chelsea to play in the premier league. After a rough start Pulisic showed his potential when the premier league returned from the COVID-19 postponement.
Another young superstar who took the same path as Pulisic is Gio Reyna. Reyna is a 17-year-old American playing on the top team at Borussia Dortmund and is finding great success playing with another super star in Erling Haland.
“He’s 17 years old, and what he is doing on the pitch today is amazing. He has a huge future in front of him, he is the American dream, said Haland.
Nineteen Year-old Sergino Dest is another youngster with a bright future ahead of him. Dest played for the Italian club Juventus in the Serie A league. Dest was able to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo who is considered one of the best to ever play the game of soccer. On Oct. 1 Dest signed to play for Barcelona in the Spanish league La Liga. At Barcelona, Dest will get the chance to play with Lionel Messi who is also considered one of the best to ever play.
These three young stars will look to learn under the superstars they are playing with and take notes from the managers they are playing under. The U.S. National team will look to gain experience and follow the lead of these young stars. Pulisic, Reyna and Dest will look to lead the other players who get chosen to represent the U.S. national team and build a dynasty for years to come.
