With the SFSD school district’s holiday break starting today, many feel as though this holiday break will be subpar due to COVID-19. That being said, Sioux Falls is doing the most they can to make this unorthodox holiday season exceed previous years’. There are many activities being held within Sioux Falls this holiday season to keep those staying at home entertained throughout the break.

Falls Park

With over 25 miles of Christmas lights stretching around Falls Park, nearly every inch of tree, building and water is covered with the festivities of Christmas. Even with the current weather, people can stay in the warmth of their cars, tune into the holiday music radio station and drive around through the loop of streets surrounding the Falls.

The Stampede

The Stampede is playing at the Denny Sanford PREMIER Center multiple days over this long break. Even those who are not fans of hockey can find joy through this activity. So bring family and friends, enjoy some stadium food and cheer on the local hockey team.

Ice Skating

With the current circumstances of this unprecedented time, an outdoor activity is just what people need to have a break from their stressful lives. Even though the rinks are not open on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day, it will still be a great time-passer through the other days of this holiday break.

State Theater

The State Theater in downtown Sioux Falls opened just in time for the holiday season. Although they may not be showing the most festive movies, it is still a great source of entertainment for those families staying in town, or families coming into town. A few dates to mark in your calendar are the 25th through 27th, as they show “Mary Poppins,” Rocky” and “Some Like it Hot.”
