Pet Peeves: Office Edition

Jamison Vetter, Staff Writer

Everybody gets annoyed from time to time and some things just get under people’s skin easier than others. It happens. However, there are some certain behaviors that plenty of people get annoyed by. Universally, people just sort of hate these super common pet peeves. Think about our staff that runs the office including the front doors, they see almost all the students at LHS each and every day.

Cassia Oaks works at the front window of LHS, checking in visitors, students and overall controlling what happens before anyone enters the building.

“Not having your ID, that’s probably the biggie. That’s probably the number one thing. Not having your mask, especially right now. Those are just forgetful things I guess, but not having your ID is a big one because everything depends on that, from letting you in from open lunch, etc,” said Oaks.

Brittany Jansen works at student services, helping students check in or figure out where they need to be.

“‘Can I get a pass?’ That’s the most annoying thing, they come in and say that when there’s so many ways you can get a pass,” said Jansen.

Amy Mickelson handles checking students in if they come in late, along with directing students to their desired location.

“I’ve about had it with ‘Is the nurse here?’ Like the nurse is in there, go in and see her,” said Mickelson.

Kristin Brown is the athletic director secretary. She answers phone calls inside student services and also helps sort out students’ athletic forms.

“I don’t want to be the mean lady of the office, but I would say if you’ve told someone repeatedly over and over to bring in a form for their athletics and they don’t bring it in, or they bring it in signed but it’s not filled out,” said Brown.

Needless to say, we all get frustrated at certain things people do. It is very hard to believe, but even the students at LHS can get on the staff’s nerves.
