Netflix fans were given disappointing news when fan favorites “The Office” and “Gossip Girl” left the streaming service at the end of 2020. To contradict this disappointing news, Netflix hopes to wow fans with new releases on their platform. Whether someone needs a show to binge during quarantine or to procrastinate homework, Netflix has some new options to enjoy. 

“Love (ft Marriage and Divorce)”

 “Love (ft Marriage and Divorce)” came to Netflix on Jan. 23 and is a drama-packed 16 episode Netflix original involving just about every aspect of a relationship. Three women who all work at the same radio show began to pour out their issues to one another. Lee Si-eun is the oldest and writer of the radio show, with Boo Hye-ryoung as the host and Sa-Piyoung as the producer.  Each woman has a different struggle involving distance, cheating and affairs. 

“Lupin”

“Lupin,” the first French film to reach Netflix’s top 10, came to the platform on Jan. 8. This 10 episode series features Assane Diop and his story as a young thief and son of an immigrant from France. Assane’s father gets framed by his employer, Hubert Pellegrini, for the theft of a diamond necklace. As a result of being framed, Assane’s father passes away in prison and Assane wants nothing more than to expose Pellegrini for his wrongdoing. Assane sets out to seek revenge inspired by a book he finds decades after his father’s passing. 

“Daughter from Another Mother”

If you are someone who loves a good comedy, “Daughter From Another Mother” is worth the watch. This nine-episode series came to the platform on Jan. 20. Two mothers give birth on the same day, in the same hospital, and as one can guess, the babies happen to get switched. The two mothers, Ana and Mariana, both take home the wrong baby and do not realize until the babies reach four months. With very different parenting methods, the mothers have to navigate motherhood together, whether they like it or not. 

Now Netflix can only hope that these new originals will not disappoint. Although, with a Netflix original one can typically not go wrong.
