Chlorophyll helps with blood detoxification, gut health, energy and more

Most of us are familiar with the social media platform, TikTok, which has over 600 million users. The app allows users to post videos that range from six seconds to a minute, containing content about whatever they wish. There are many different sides and creators on TikTok that pertain to different things, such as food, health, lifestyle, fitness and so much more. One of the newest trends that has been all over my TikTok feed is drinking chlorophyll as a health supplement. And just like many others, I was curious.

First, what is chlorophyll? It is a green substance most commonly found in vegetables and plants. You can also intake chlorophyll through supplements or in liquid form. Chlorophyll has many benefits, such as reducing the production of gas and toxins that occur during digestion, helping protect the liver, boosts energy, fighting illness and improving health overall.

After learning about the ups and downs of chlorophyll, I wanted to try it for myself. So, I set out to try it for a week and documented the changes I noticed. Every morning before I ate, I diluted a tablespoon of the liquid chlorophyll into a glass of water, turning it a very dark green color. At first I was scared it was going to be something that I’d have to force myself to drink, but surprisingly it had no taste, which is a benefit of its own. Day one went pretty smoothly, but unfortunately there wasn’t any noticeable change.

I started noticing changes during days three and four. Just like the previous days, I drank the chlorophyll in the morning before eating. Most of the changes were positive, such as a positive mood, feeling productive, less bloating and my skin produced a natural glow. Actually experiencing benefits from drinking the chlorophyll did lower my skepticism, but I did also notice some negative effects, including stomach aches, which were recurring throughout the day.

During the last two days, not much more happened. Those initial effects were all I experienced throughout the week. By the end of the trial, my body was used to the chlorophyll and some of the negative side effects had settled.

Overall, I really enjoyed my experience with chlorophyll and understand why people love it so much. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who’s curious, but I’m sure it’s possible everyone’s experience may differ, such as expecting immediate benefits that may not be as drastic as one might think going into it. Chlorophyll is definitely a good health supplement to use on the daily, as it doesn’t have a bad taste and is easy to drink all while providing positive benefits all around.
