There is no doubt that fall is the best season. The trees start to turn colors, leaves begin to fall all around and the warm air slowly drifts away. From yearly trips to the pumpkin patch and apple orchard to once again trying pumpkin spice drinks and desserts, there are many different activities for all people to enjoy during this festive season. 

One of the most popular activities during fall is painting or carving pumpkins. There are so many different designs, shapes, colors and styles to choose from. The most exciting part is getting to personalize it to your liking. This is also a fun and creative way to decorate the exterior of any home. 

For horror lovers, haunted houses and corn mazes are the way to go. Sioux Falls hosts Jaycees’ Haunted House every year in October, right here on our fairgrounds. Another option is a normal corn maze, as there are two options which are located in Harrisburg and over by Yogi Bear Campgrounds. Silverstar has a haunted car wash around Halloween time every year. This car wash will have everyone on the edge of their seats. 

Binge-watching movies with your favorite people is an easy and inexpensive choice. If you decide to stay in, gather your friends and family, make popcorn and stock up on some candy. There are so many different movies to watch, like the classic “It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown” and another favorite “Hocus Pocus.” Grab some blankets, turn the movie on and get comfortable. 

The apple orchard is a great place to spice up your Instagram feed. This provides the perfect opportunity to take pictures, pick the best apples, choose a fun pumpkin or simply just enjoy a personal favorite, apple pie. The orchard is also a fun and simple date idea for those who are in relationships during this wonderful time. Do not forget to grab some caramel apples during the visit.  

Fall is a time of happiness and there is never a dull moment. The decision between going out or staying in can be hard, but either way, there are so many ways to have a pleasurable experience during this time. Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone and try something new this year.
