“Outer Banks” or “OBX” as everyone calls it, is coming out with a season three. This TV show is a teenage favorite and was trending as the number one show on Netflix in the summer 2021. 

The very first season of OBX came out on April 15, 2020. Immediately the show was booming with publicity from Netflix to TikTok. Thousands of people around the world have followed this show from the beginning and cannot wait for the third season which should be coming out on Jan. 2, 2022. OBX is about a group of teenagers (called the pogues) that live in the “cut” in Outer Banks, North Carolina. 

The first season is about the main character, John B Rutledge, finding out information about his long-lost father and what he was searching for when he disappeared. The second season is more focused on another character, Pope, as the crew tries to find the royal merchant treasure that Denmark Tanny, one of Pope’s ancestors, was trying to find and return back to reclaiming what is rightfully theirs. The second season ends with characters, Kie, John B, Pope, JJ and Sarah Cameron, all washed up on an unknown island, stranded, with no parents. 

Many people believe that each season is going to be about a certain character because season one was mainly about John B and season two was mainly about Pope. This conclusion leaves fans wondering which character will season three be focused on. Kie? Or maybe JJ? According to Banzaar.com, Josh Pate, one of the writers for the series, hopes in the future that many more main characters in “OBX” will get the spotlight in the next seasons to come. The characters that will make an appearance for the third season are John B, Kie, Sarah Cameron, JJ, Pope, Rafe, Ward, Rose, Cleo, Topper and Shoupe. 

There are many theories and ideas that arose after season two ended, but with season three around the corner, many new ideas have come to light. According to screenrant.com these are the most popular theories: JJ and Kiara’s relationship, the “coincidental” island that the pogues landed on at the end of season two. Lastly, will Big John kill Ward when he gets the chance? These are all interesting ideas that could be further looked into. What do you believe will happen in the new season?
