LHS Instagram account reviews
April 4, 2022
Chances are that if you are an LHS alumni or even have the slightest bit of knowledge on the LHS student body, you are well aware of the absurd amount of Instagram pages that have been created by our students. Many of these accounts have the goal of “exposing” their peers for partaking in activities such as sleeping in class or parking their car over the line in the parking lot. As an LHS student who is heavily involved in making sure I do not end up on one of these accounts myself, I am very mindful of how each one of these accounts function, and decided it was time to give them some feedback.
@lhs__sleepers
With the bio containing the phrase “You snooze, you get views,” the account has an element of humor that many of the others lack. With 184 posts dating back to Nov. 2021, many LHS students caught sleeping in class have fallen victim to this account. While the account’s purpose is to get a good laugh out of seeing your peers get posted, the owner of the account is pretty good about blurring the faces of people who get sent in when requested. This ensures that they are respectful of not completely revealing the identities of these sleepy suspects. Additionally, the account runner tends to give a “comfortability” rating for each sleeper who is sent in, which not only adds another element of humor but allows their followers to know that the person behind the account enjoys interacting with their followers by implementing their opinion on each post. The comical touch and the account owner’s passion for their work earn this account a rating of 8/10.
@lhs_bad_parkers
Arguably the most popular among all of the other LHS accounts, @lhs_bad_parkers holds a whopping follower count of 1,158, equivalent to just under 70% of LHS’s student enrollment of 1,668. Since the first post made in Oct. 2021, the owner of the account has been very good about posting at least once a day. However, whether it be a lack of submissions or just a loss of interest in the account, the owner has been slacking a bit on posting as frequently as they used to. Regardless, the content remains very entertaining and honestly has been pretty effective in minimizing the number of bad parking jobs there are at LHS. Since the account has gained a large following, I have noticed that many LHS students have been more mindful of their parking jobs, as more and more people seem to be parked carefully between the lines than ever before. Additionally, the comment section under each post filled with friends tagging and calling each other out for their atrocious parking never fails to make me laugh. Due to the positive impact the account has had on the parking lot and the friendly feuds in the comment sections, this account earns a rating of 9/10.
@lhs_studentspets
Being one of the only LHS Instagram accounts without the goal of “exposing” something about LHS students, @lhs_studentspets’s goal is to appreciate the adorable furry friends of their peers. Ranging from dogs to goats, the account has posted a variety of different kinds of animals, however they all share one prevalent characteristic: their cuteness. Seeing these adorable animals pop up on my feed always makes my day; one of my only criticisms for this account is that I wish the owner of it would post more. While I do enjoy seeing posts from the “exposing” accounts, seeing pictures from this account is a refreshing change from seeing repetitive pictures of blurred faces and license plates. This account earns a rating of 10/10, because what is there not to like?
Each of these accounts, and the multitude of other accounts made by LHS students have truly shaped our student body this year, and in a weird sense have been able to connect the student body like never before. If you do not yet follow these accounts, I would definitely recommend checking them out. Who knows, maybe you will be one of their next victims.
