As many know, prom took place this past weekend, on Saturday. The dance was held at El Riad Shrine Downtown and the Grand March took place at LHS. Compared to last year, prom had more normalcy this year, due to many pandemic restrictions being lifted. Prom is a time for all of the (mostly) seniors to dress up, take pictures, go out to eat and go to the dance. It is pretty much the last, fun event going on before the end of the school year. Prom is the last memorable time to celebrate and spend time with friends before graduation.

I would not have gone to prom but since my boyfriend is a senior, I got the luxury of going a year early. This was kind of stressful since it was my first time at this specific dance, and I had high expectations. I started preparing for prom a few months in advance, which was really not needed. I got my dress about two months before for sure knowing that I was going. I was preparing for some objectives that did not really matter in the long run, just small pointless details.

My first step in preparing was to get my nails done, which unfortunately cost me $80. The day of prom went by very slowly, due to my high anticipation. I started the day with some Scooters, then shortly after I got my hair done. I ended up getting my hair done around noon, and I quickly realized getting it done so early was pretty inconvenient since I had to wait until later to actually get ready. My group had reservations late that night, along with pictures. The weather was not cooperating but fortunately we were planning on taking pictures inside, which ended up being in our favor. As the day went on, I had my friends come over and we started to do our makeup, along with adding finishing touches to our looks.

Dinner and pictures took place at Ode to Food, located Downtown, which ended up being super busy due to many schools having prom on the same night. It was heartwarming to see all the parents together, sharing the excitement of their kids all dressed up with their dates. My group ended up going to the dance around 10:15 p.m. and stayed there for about 30 minutes. A lot of my other friends were showing up at the same time, which was a nice surprise. I believe that the music could have been better but it was definitely an experience to remember, especially dancing all night with my friends. I could not have asked for a better night and I am so thankful I got the chance to experience prom this year.
