The time travel effect of ‘The Adam Project’
April 13, 2022
Recently a new movie came out on Netflix called “The Adam Project.” The basis is a scientific action and adventure movie about time travel with hilarious jokes throughout to balance the comedy with the action. I thought it was a great movie, and I highly recommend it.
The movie starts in 2050 when the main character Adam Reed travels back in time to 2018 for a mission. However, something happens along the way that impacts the date and he ends up in 2022. Adam somehow meets up with his childhood self and sees a new perspective of life at that time. Adam is still determined to fix what he came for and he and his younger self set out to save the future.
The main characters in this movie are Ryan Reynolds playing the older Adam and Walker Scobell as the younger version. Both of them played extremely good parts. I was pleasantly surprised by Scobell because I did not know what to expect. This is one of his first big movies, and he did very well. The 13-year old was phenomenal, and I could see him in many more movies as he continues to grow up. Reynolds is simply an icon in general, and he was exactly what I expected and more. With his sense of humor in acting while still pulling it together for the sentimental parts, he played a well rounded character. Jennifer Garner played the motherly role to Adam and she also did well.
What I loved about the movie was the comedy. I loved how the conversations were not completely serious all the time and how it made it seem like it was unscripted in some parts. I also loved the sentimental parts in it. Those moments of realization in movies always get me and this one was subtle but definitely there. The only thing I really can point out that I did not like as much was the confusion about time travel. Since it was the main theme of the movie I feel like they explained it too fast for watchers to comprehend. I wish that they would explain it with better detail and have overall just a longer segment of that since it was a tad confusing.
What I learned from this was that you cannot take life for granted. It is such an important topic that we have all heard many times. However, this showed it on a deeper level by going back and understanding why you felt a certain way when you could have let it go. It also taught me to see life in a different perspective. When you are dealing with something inside, it is not always to see that other people could be as well. So really seeing other people how you see yourself is a good motto to uphold.
I feel that any age from 14+ would enjoy this movie. It is rated PG-13 and is a good watch. I would recommend this movie to people who like action movies that are not as intense as “The Hobbit.” I feel that even if you are not into science fiction it is still a good movie to watch because of the comedy. Overall, I really enjoyed this movie and would watch it again.
