With the school year coming to an end, many students are excited for summer and just want the school year to be over, so having events to look forward to is all the more important. LHS has its fair share of events that students can be sure to mark their calendars for. 

Prom: Prom is a dance at the end of the school year for mainly seniors. It is a time where students can come together, dress up and have fun in a group setting, one more time before graduation. Prom is scheduled to take place on Apr. 23, 2022.

Graduation: Most seniors are looking forward to May 29, 2022 because that is graduation day. This year’s graduation is at the Sioux Falls Arena. Graduation day is bittersweet because seniors are excited to get out of highschool but some seniors are also upset about leaving their family and friends and going to live on their own. 

Grad parties: Grad parties are an exciting celebration that seniors look forward to after they graduate. Many people invite friends, family and even teachers to acknowledge all of their hard work throughout highschool. Not only are grad parties fun for the person who is graduating, but it is also enjoyable for their friends to go because they get lots of delicious food.

Testing: Not all things at the end of the year are fun. On the two last days of school, students have to do semester tests and students who are taking AP classes at LHS have to take their AP tests. Final assessments can be very stressful for a number of students as these tests require lots of studying and preparation. 

State track: State track is May 26-28, 2022 at Howard Wood Field. State track is exciting for LHS students but it can also be very nerve-racking as well. It is a bittersweet event for many as it will be LHS seniors’ last track meet. 

Summer camps: There are many different summer camps that one can participate in at LHS. Some of those camps include gymnastics, basketball, football and soccer. These camps are a great way to get extra practice in the sport that one loves.
