With the school year wrapping up and the warm weather starting up, the Sioux Falls Levitt has just announced their upcoming 50 bands for their summer concert series. The concerts take place every Thursday, Friday and Saturday night with the lawn opening at 6:30 p.m. and the bands starting at 7 p.m. The Levitt will also be providing food trucks on-site. Whether you are out for a date night or you just want to get out of the house for the evening, the Levitt concerts are a great way to meet new people and diversify your playlists. Here is a quick breakdown of some of the bands performing this summer.

The Burroughs June 3

The Burroughs are best described as a soul group with a lot of modern flair added on. The band is made up of nine people featuring a four piece brass section. Some of their best songs include “Forever in Love,” “Zero Sum Game” and “Touch the Sky.”

D’DAT June 11

D’DAT is a jazz, funk and hip-hop group infused with Native southwestern culture. D’DAT provides an excellent jazz groove with a deep rich indigenous sound over top. Some of their best pieces include “Goodbye Rez” and “Girl From Nanaimo.”

A Visual Sound July 9

A Visual Sound is a part of Levitt’s new Innoskate event. A Visual Sound is an experimental art film focusing on the skateboarding community. The Film will feature a live soundtrack played by the Smithsonian Jazz Masterworks Orchestra. The Levitt will be the second destination of the Innoskate event July 7-9. The goal behind the event is to bring skating more mainstream in the city of Sioux Falls. Innoskate will feature demonstrations from pro skaters, learn to skate clinics and a mobile skate-park.

Friday Morning Family Shows

On top of the 50 free concerts held every Thursday-Saturday night, the Levitt is also holding five Friday morning children’s concerts. The concerts are on June 10 and 24, July 8 and 22, and Aug. 5. The concerts are 10 a.m. and go through 11:30 a.m.

The 50 Free Concerts of Summer start June 3 with The Burroughs and end Sept. 10 with Lee Rocker of the Stray Cats. For more information check out the Sioux Falls Levitt event calendar at https://www.levittsiouxfalls.org/2022-concert-season/.
