Halloween is a fun time for people of all ages. As the leaves fall and the weather starts to cool, Halloween is the first big holiday to kick off the fall and winter seasons. There is so much to look forward to. The excitement of deciding what to dress up as, decorating the house with pumpkins, skeletons, spider webs and so much more is what Halloween is all about. But what gets everyone the most excited is obviously the candy. Today I will be breaking down the top five best Halloween candies and why.

5. Gummy bears: With the classic Haribo pack, you get flavors like raspberry, orange, strawberry, pineapple and lemon. Gummy bears are a candy people do not usually have casually throughout the year and they get forgotten about as the seasons turn. So, when Halloween comes around, it is a great time to rediscover these small flavorful gummies.

4. Starbursts: It may be surprising that another fruity candy made the top five list. Starbursts, however, are a completely different story from gummy bears. During Halloween, they usually come in packs of two covered in wrapping, so there is an excitement that comes with peeling open your wrapper to reveal what flavors you got. While gummy bears are more of a gelatin, starbursts are more similar to a fruity taffy. These come in flavors such as strawberry, orange, cherry and lemon.

3. Twix: Falling at the middle of this list is our first chocolate candy. Twix finds the perfect mix of sweet, salty and creamy. There are layers of shortbread and gooey salted caramel dipped in milk chocolate. But the real question is are you a left-Twix or a right-Twix person?

2. Reese’s: Taking the number two spot on this list is the classic peanut butter and chocolate treat. They are the perfect mix between sweet and salty and the chocolate-to-peanut butter ratio is right on. Around Halloween time the company also comes out with jack-o-lantern-shaped treats. These candies have a thinner chocolate coating than the original Reese’s which some people may prefer more.

1. King-size anything. This was such an obvious number-one pick. Everyone knows the houses that give out king-sized candy bars are automatically top-tier. The candy given to you does not even matter at this point, the size alone sets it apart from all other houses. Kids compete to see how many king-sized bars they can get on Halloween night.
