The Marvel Cinematic Universe, otherwise known as the MCU, has been the biggest movie franchise for many years, but lately, it seems as if something has gone astray.

Marvel has always been known for their engaging plots and their remarkable visual effects, but recent movies and shows have damaged their reputation. In the past year, Marvel has released numerous projects that indicate production teams may not have spent enough time or effort on the plots or visual quality of the films and shows. This is not to say that Marvel has always had perfect CGI or storylines in the past. In regards to visual effects, viewers have noticed particularly lousy CGI in past movies, such as “The Black Panther” and “The Incredible Hulk,” along with many other instances. On the other hand, Marvel has done a fairly good job of creating engaging and intriguing plotlines and connecting the entire MCU together.

Lately, Marvel has harmed their reputation and let down many fans, releasing movies and shows that do not necessarily connect to “the bigger picture,” whereas most MCU movies in the past have played an important part in bringing together the overarching plot line. Before recent years, one had to have watched all of the previous MCU movies to completely understand what is happening in the most recent movie, though this has not held true in recent MCU projects. Marvel has been releasing stand-alone projects, where viewers do not necessarily have to watch previous shows or movies to comprehend what is happening. A great example of this is in their new shows, such as “She-Hulk,” where viewers only need basic knowledge of the MCU to understand. Fans pointed out that these new stand-alone shows are a quick cash grab and producers are rushing the production of movies and shows in order to make more money in a smaller amount of time.

In spite of the recent quality of their productions, Marvel has still managed to hold the title of the most successful movie franchise in the world. Raking in billions of dollars every year, Marvel still manages to keep fans coming back for more.
