During the tremendous walk into school on a cold morning, one’s frost-bite might wonder what could prevent this situation? As students walk through the halls of LHS, they will notice a recurrence of the mini Ugg boots and the Birkenstock clogs. Is there new or any competition at all between the clogs and Uggs?
Mini Uggs:
Uggs have been a popular brand all throughout the 2000s. Students probably remember receiving their first pair of Uggs for Christmas in elementary school; however, Uggs have made a comeback. In the past few years, the Ultra Mini Ugg boot became a popular trend. Ugg boots in general are known for their coziness and sheepskin warmth, perfect for a South Dakota winter. The mini style became popular because they seem less like a boot and more like a slipper. They are easier to slip on and off than a regular sized boot, and are an up-to-date version of the original Ugg boot everyone knows and loves. Although the mini version is considered to be “in style,” some people might think Ugg boots overall feel old-fashioned. To add on, Uggs can sometimes be mistaken for hooves, specifically the platform version.
Birkenstock clogs:
Even though Birkenstocks have a big reputation for their sandals in the summer, as winter rolls around, Birkenstock clogs start to make their appearance. The clogs became most popular last year, but have actually been around since the 1960s. Since they became a trend, people quickly caught on to their uniqueness and comfort. The clog style is breathable, easy to slip on and is a high-class version of any regular slipper. Birkenstock offers styles with and without fur on the inside, making them wearable for all seasons. Even though Birkenstocks might not offer the same level of warmth as Uggs do, they definitely offer a more classic and earthy aesthetic.
As we know, mini Ugg boots are known for their coziness and Birkenstock clogs being popular for their comfort. Everyone has their preference when it comes down to picking out a shoe to wear; LHS voted on their preference and the results reveal that 58% of voters like the Ugg mini boot more than the Birkenstock clog. Which shoe would you strut in?
