Eloise Geraets

Social media plays a vital role in our lives. Social networks change our lifestyles, trends, and what could be considered fashionable. Influencers take a toll on how popular a trend could be. For example, a recent trend that is all over the for you page on TikTok is a small pink bow. This bow has taken over, and the trend incorporates teenage girls adding ribbon to everyday objects to make them appear more feminine. Many popular videos consist of ribbons tied to food containing “girl dinner” or popular products that a teenager could not live without.

TikTok is recognized for its viral videos and trends and has become a hub for fashion inspiration and accessories. The algorithm allows users to discover new trends and products quickly, making it the perfect program for the Coquette Bow to gain fame. The bow’s unique and visually appealing design caught the attention of many TikTok users, who began integrating it into their videos and outfits.

The bow trend is also known as the Coquette Bow. The bow is tied from a long strand of ribbon that can be bought at a crafting store, most of which are a light pink color. The meaning of coquette is a flirtatious female that enjoys the attention of others. Therefore, the trend shows how a small bow can gain the attention of others ever so slightly. The Coquette Bow is an accessory that is beginning to reign over the fashion world. This bow was introduced by the fashion brand Coquette in 2020. The bow gained attention for its oversized and fluffy design, making it a perfect accessory for adding a touch of cuteness to any outfit. Typically you would only see bows on runway models or fancy dresses at the gala; however, thanks to TikTok, bows have become an everyday accessory on any outfit.

The popular pink bow began during COVID-19; despite that, the bow first took its fame in November of 2023. Its fame started with a video that was published on TikTok. The video consisted of a teenage girl adding pink bows to her everyday items. Her video flooded throughout social media as she gained fame, as well as her idea of adding bows to everything. The bow trend is also known as the Coquette Bow. The Coquette Bow is tied from a long strand of ribbon bought at a crafting store, and the ribbon is typically a light pink color. The meaning of coquette is a flirtatious female that enjoys the attention of others. Several individuals have begun adding small bows to their lifestyle. To explain, bows are added to hair, screensavers, sweatshirts and more. Having one person with an incredible amount of style follow through with this choice, causing more people to adhere to the idea. Which leads to a trend.

Celebrities and influencers are found to be embracing the Coquette Bow, showcasing how one could style it for a quick coffee run or on a gala gown. Influencers truly took the bow trend through a new stage change and created a more feminine approach rather than stylistic one. Every individual has an effect on what becomes trendy and eye-catching, and for most, it’s a miniature pink bow that can make the difference.
