Being a celebrity is a dream that can be accomplished by anyone who truly believes. One can become famous by blowing up on social media, making music, acting or anything that has a sort of relevance in society. Slowly building your fame is one thing, however, staying famous and using popularity as an advantage to become more famous is where some struggle. A fall-off is where a certain person, who was relevant in a way, drastically loses popularity for several reasons. As there are ways to remember famous people such as a Hall of Fame, or the Hollywood Walk of Fame, those who fell off should also be remembered.
The D’Amelio’s
The D’Amelio’s are notoriously remembered for their fame and popularity on TikTok. Charli D’Amelio, the youngest of the family but most famous, became famous for dancing to songs on TikTok such as “Say So,” “Cannibal,” “Lottery” and more. After successfully using Charli’s fame on TikTok to their advantage, Charli’s family also started posting TikToks which amounted to around 400 million followers combined. Some LHS students believe their fall-off began once they started endorsing certain products through social media.
Tyler Blevins
Tyler Blevins, otherwise known as Ninja, is a streamer popularized by streaming the popular video game, Fortnite. When Fortnite was a newer game and few were aware of it, Ninja was one of the first streamers to play and stream the video game and eventually became the most popular Fortnite streamer. As Fortnite began to grow in popularity, new and younger streamers began to also stream and play Fortnite and were better in skill than Ninja. Though Ninja still streams in an attempt to stay relevant, he does not have the same amount of viewers as he once did.
Gotye
At first sight, the name “Gotye” is unrecognizable. One might even think that Gotye is fictional as the name is so unique and unknown. However, even though the name might be unknown, the song that Gotye made, “Somebody That I Used To Know” went viral in 2011. Gotye’s song was number one for eight consecutive weeks. After creating a musical masterpiece, Gotye simply vanished and stopped making music. He did not really “vanish,” and makes remixes of the old popular hit. As famous as Gotye was, this fall is the biggest of them all.
