With all of the albums coming out in 2024, next year’s GRAMMYs will certainly be an exciting watch.

This year has brought the release of new albums by many popular music artists. These are only some that have already been released and those that are still yet to come in 2024.

March 8:
“Eternal Sunshine” by Ariana Grande
According to The Brown Daily Herald, this album was inspired by the 2004 film “Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind,” which stars Jim Carrey and Kate Winslet. Many of the lyrics and the music videos for this album are references to the film and are filled with a lot of pain and emotion revolving around heartbreak. This is Grande’s first album in four years.

March 29:
“Cowboy Carter” by Beyoncé
This is Beyoncé’s longest album, being 27 songs, and took over five years to make. According to Wikipedia, it “is the second of a planned trilogy of albums, following Renaissance (2022),” and Beyoncé’s focus was “a journey through a reinvention of Americana, spotlighting the overlooked contributions of Black pioneers to American musical and cultural history.”

April 5:
“Older” by Lizzy McAlpine
As the title suggests, the songs in the album revolve around the fear of getting older and McAlpine’s father’s death. McAlpine became famous after sharing original songs and covers on Soundcloud and YouTube and when her song “ceilings” gained popularity on social media.

April 19:
“The Tortured Poets Department” by Taylor Swift
Swift announced the news about her album at this year’s Grammys, which was a huge surprise for her fans. Another surprise came when on April 19, it was revealed that this was a double album with 31 songs. The album that accompanies TTPD is The Anthology. The album includes songs featuring Post Malone and Florence and the Machine. According to Billboard, TTPD was Spotify’s most streamed album in a day and amassed more than 300 million streams in a single day, which was the first album ever to do so.

May 3:
“Vultures 2” by Kanye West
Featuring Ty Dolla $ign, “Vultures 2” is a sequel to “Vultures 1” and is part of a planned Vultures trilogy. This album was originally set to be released on March 8 but the date kept getting pushed off. However, as of now, “Vultures 2” was released on May 3 with the plan of “Vultures 3” coming shortly after.

May 17:
“Hit Me Hard and Soft” by Billie Eilish.
Eilish posted about her third studio album on Instagram on April 8. This album features songs such as “L’Amour De Ma Vie” and “Wildflower.” Eilish, as stated in The Hollywood Reporter, revealed that this album “is like returning ‘to the girl that I was’ and that ‘it helped her find her old self again.’”

September (exact date is TBD):
“Lasso” by Lana Del Rey
Rey announced the release of Lasso at the NMPA Songwriter Awards on Jan. 31. It will be her first country album, which is a genre much different from her usual alt-pop style.

Some other albums yet to be released include “Radical Optimism” by Dua Lipa on May 3, “Clancy” by Twenty One Pilots on May 17, “Timeless” by Meghan Trainor on June 14, “Loom” by Imagine Dragons on June 28 and Lana by SZA (date is TBD).
