This summer, 2024, has very many highly anticipated show and movie releases.

Summer break is finally here. Without school, students are destined to have an abundance of time on their hands. Although it is great to be outdoors and enjoy the heat and sun, it is always nice to sit down and enjoy the latest movies and TV shows. Here are six of the most anticipated shows and movies that will be released this summer 2024.

Bridgerton

“Bridgerton” season three is coming out this summer in two parts. Part one was released on May 16, and part two is anticipated on June 13. The season will have eight episodes in total, split up into four and four for the two release dates. This season will primarily focus on the budding romance between the characters Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington, played by Luke Newton and Nicola Coughlan. This season has been heavily anticipated by fans of the show ever since the dramatic ending of season two in March 2022.

A Quiet Place: Day One

On June 28, the newest addition to the Quiet Place saga, “A Quiet Place: Day One,” will enter theaters. This movie will act as a prequel to the two films already out. It is an apocalyptic horror film that explains the origins of how the original movies start, and follows “how the world went quiet.”

Bad Boys Ride or Die

Starring popular comedians Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, “Bad Boys Ride or Die” is to be released on June 6. An action comedy, the movie will follow two cops as they embark on a dangerous mission to clear their boss’ name after controversy. This film is part four in the “Bad Boys” franchise, which started in 1995 and is highly anticipated by fans of the buddy cop comedy.

Inside Out 2

Since the original Inside Out movie nine years ago, many kids and teens have been waiting for the sequel’s release. This is the summer it is happening; this movie continues the story of Riley and her emotions as she grows up and becomes a teenager. It is certain to be another heartwarming, fun cartoon to watch with family this summer. It comes out June 14.

Twisters

The action thriller movie about tornadoes is to be released this July 19. It stars Glen Powell along with Kiernan Shipka and Anthony Ramos. The movie is about a group of scientists and storm chasers, and follows the main character Kate who, after a previous encounter with a tornado, gets back into the world of storm chasing. The movie is an update of the 1996 film “Twister.”

Pretty Little Liars: Summer School:

After the show, ”Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin” came out in 2022, the second season of the spin-off started airing on May 9th with new episodes coming out each week. This show follows a group of five girls in the town of Millwood, Pennsylvania as they attempt to recover from a previous killer who was after them. They discover that more harm might be on its way. “Pretty Little Liars: Summer School” can be watched on MAX with a subscription.

These five are not the only new releases of the summer; some other exciting movies such as “Despicable Me 4,” “The Garfield Movie” and “Hit Man” are all hitting theaters this summer. Fans of the TV shows “The Bear,” “The Umbrella Academy” and “Cobra Kai” can also expect new seasons of their favorite shows to hit streaming platforms over the next few months. For anyone in need of a new show to binge or a movie to go to, there are lots to look forward to over the coming months.
