LHS has recorded many state titles over the years in athletics: in football, basketball, soccer, girls’ track and field, boys’ track and field, etc. Behind all the amazing coaches are the outstanding athletes who train, compete and practice at a high school level, which most students cannot because of how time-consuming and physically demanding it is on a 15 to 18 kid. Some athletes even plan to go beyond high school training because, after all the work, they still love it, so they plan to continue their athletic careers in college.
Continuing sports in college is far more than just games after high school. Athletes learn to manage their time, strive towards their goals no matter what and create a bond with teammates who are in the same boat as them The opportunity to take the chance of continuing theircareer at the next level is rare, and once they pass it up, it is very hard to get back. College athletics gives them experiences they can’t get anywhere else in their life, and once that window closes, it is gone for good. So if you have the opportunity to do something further with your athletics and you’re lost right now, take advantage of that opportunity. Trying and deciding it isn’t for you is easier than living with the fact that you never tried at all.
So, not only are they grinding in school just to stay above the water, but on top of that, they are determined to continue an extremely physically demanding hobby, which alone is incredible. Who are those athletes at LHS? Who is going beyond just the commitment in high school? Let us take a look at the senior athletes continuing their journey in athletics and find out what schools they decided were their best fit…
