“The Great Divide,” Noah Kahan’s long-awaited new single, was released on Jan. 30, 2026. Not only did he release this song, but he also announced his fourth album, which is scheduled for release on Apr. 24, 2026.
It has been less than a year since Kahan released an album; however, this album featured only one new song, “Pain is Cold Water,” with the rest being live recordings of previously released music. It has been nearly four years since he released a completely new album, and “The Last of the Bugs” is ready for release day.
Kahan is constantly leaving small hints throughout his lyrics, posts and music videos on his secret TikTok account, “The last of the bugs.” He has hinted at a potential tracklist in one of his most recent posts with a slideshow featuring eight pictures that likely reveal both the number of songs and song titles on the tracklist. Many people have been guessing the possible song titles, saying, “Pain Is Cold Water,” “Spoiled,” “Doors,” “Wreckage of You” and “Porch Light” may be featured.
Fans around the world have been anticipating this release for a long time, as Kahan has been releasing little bits here and there. After listening to the song that he just released, I can confirm it was worth the wait, and I can only imagine that the album will be the same.
The complexity and artistry showcased in this first song are unreal. This song and album stand for so much more than just an exciting new release, though. Kahan is famous for singing and writing about personal matters to him but still making it easy for listeners to relate. He has done this once again, this time focusing on growing apart emotionally and physically from the people you love and religious trauma. The new album will likely carry on these themes.
“I am so excited for the new album [because] all of his music is so good. I just know that I will not be disappointed,” said an anonymous LHS student.
