As these last few weeks of school drag on, it is important to stay motivated and finish the school year strong. With AP classes coming to an end, it is a stressful time for many students. The final stretch of the year is always the hardest as students’ drive diminishes with summer right around the corner. Here are some tips to avoid burnout and avoid letting the grades slip.
First, even if motivation is low, it is important not to procrastinate on the last few assignments. It is the time of year when everyone is calculating what they need on their final to pass. If you get your assignments done, it will make that final test a little less stressful. Try to turn in missing work and stay on top of homework; this is the final push, and grades will become finalized soon.
Along with that, and quite obvious, is to get sufficient sleep. Do not leave tasks until 12 o’clock or pull all-nighters. Being well-rested boosts your mental clarity and will benefit performance in school. It is important to have time to rest and recover during these last weeks when everyone is tired and drained.
As the weather begins to get nicer, take some time to go outside for a walk and get some vitamin D. Your mental health benefits from taking breaks and having some fun outside of school. Play pickleball, go on a bike ride or drive around. Even though school is in session, you can still balance school and activities so that you do not drown in stress.
Try to balance activities, sports or clubs efficiently so that you have time for school and fun. Prioritize certain things each day. If you have an AP test coming up, study for that. You do not have to do everything in one day; making a list of daily goals keeps you accountable and helps you not get behind.
Summer is almost here; this is the time to stay on track and catch up on classes. With the few days left, each day is one closer to summer and time to relax. It is important not to give up and still give effort; there is not much longer.
