The 2018 Winter Olympics kicked off last Friday in Pyeongchang, South Korea, and 54 medals have already been awarded to athletes around the globe. At this moment, the U.S. has won four medals in total, including two gold medals, one silver medal and one bronze. Here are the athletes that won these events and claimed spots on the podium for the U.S..

The lone U.S. bronze medal was won in the team competition of figure skating. Highlighting this bronze medal was Mirai Nagasu’s triple axel, which made Nagasu the first American female to land the triple axel at the Olympics. The triple axel is a three and a half rotation jump with a forward takeoff.

The U.S. claimed silver in singles luge for its only silver medal of the Olympics so far. Chris Mazdzer became the first American man to win a medal in such an event, breaking through and surprising the competition. Mazdzer finished with an overall time of 2:23.051 to edge out Germany’s Johannes Ludwig by .204 seconds to win silver.

The two gold medals for the U.S. were won in slopestyle snowboarding. In rough conditions, Jamie Anderson claimed gold on the women’s side and Red Gerard stood atop the podium on the men’s side.

These are the medals the U.S. has won so far. With many more events to go, the U.S. athletes will look to climb up the leaderboard and continue to have podium finishes.
