Possibilities of new Sioux Falls high school

Sioux Falls is a largely expanding city, and along with that comes a lot of people. With that said, the Sioux Falls School District is currently facing a problem of an abundance of students in the class of 2025. Since 2014, the district has built three new schools to help fit the students but eventually all of those students grow older and enter grades 9 through 12. One obvious solution to this  growing problem is the addition of another high school.

Many questions arise with this solution. What would it be called? What would the mascot be? Where would it be placed? Based on the names of the three current public high schools, there is only one clear option left. I found this conclusion because there are exactly four faces on Mount Rushmore and that seems to be the common theme. With the one remaining face, Thomas Jefferson High School it is. The mascot is the hard part. The Constitutions? That doesn’t have a very nice ring to it. It will have to be a mascot name somewhat related to Jefferson, but different from the other high schools in the state.

There are many pros and cons to this solution. The addition of the school would add an abundance of teaching jobs to our community but at the same time, it would come with a heavy building cost. Another con includes district lines. They will have to be redone in order to place students equally throughout the schools. With all of these in mind, the district will have to make a decision on which route they plan to take in order to fit upcoming classes.
