Going out in style

Nicole Schmitz, Journalism Student

As the 2018 school year is coming to an end, the students of LHS are going out in style. The action packed homegoing week includes a week of dressing up in different outfits and a patriot pride assembly. “It gives students the opportunity to express themselves before school ends,” said LHS junior Parker Hibbard.  On Monday, students were seen in the halls sporting their best groutfit. On Tuesday, LHS students were repping the color that corresponds to their grade as they attended the patriot pride assembly. This assembly directed by KSFY’s Shawn Cable was full of awards and pride. An array of awards were presented such as the “pat on the back award” given to students who deserve to be recognized for their hard work, the “student of the year award” in different subjects and “seniors that maintain all A’s throughout their high school career.” Wednesday brought a multitude of students dressed in their finest attire as they participated in “well dressed Wednesday.” Thursday and Friday also include another opportunity for students to be creative. Thursday pulls us back in time as students will dress up according to their favorite decade and Friday gives the seniors a chance to showcase a glimpse of their future as they rep their future home of education. Although homegoing may not be as big as homecoming, students still enjoy the festivities and finish the school year in style.
