Netflix newly released Depp vs Heard documentary on Aug. 16, 2023

Who is the victim, Johnny Depp or Amber Heard? A newly released documentary on Netflix covering the Johnny Depp versus Amber Heard case has hit the charts. Since Depp and Heard decided to bring the media into the case, the whole world had an opinion, even Netflix.
As people struggle to figure out what “side” they are on, the Netflix series provides evidence for supporters of either side. The Depp versus Heard series not only paired together the courtroom footage but as well as different YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, and Facebook posts into the mix, by opinionated voices from the media. This helped viewers see how this case unfolded.
As Netflix slowly unwinds the troubled marriage, it reveals the question, “Who should be sued for verbal and physical abuse?” On trial, Heard stated the first time Depp physically abused her was when she was sitting on her couch and complemented Depp’s tattoo that said “Winona forever.” That tattoo had a meaning to a former girlfriend: Winona Ryder. After Depp and Ryder parted their ways, he had the last two letters removed to then say “Wino forever.” This was a big part of the documentary that made many viewers consider Heard to be the victim.
“I did not see that. I thought he was joking because it did not look like it said that at all, and I laughed, and he slapped me across the face,” said Heard.
On the other hand, Depp explained how he was late to Heard’s birthday dinner on April 22. On trial, she explained how she was upset and hurt by this act. Depp explains how Heard squared him off in the doorway of their apartment.
“Go ahead, hit me,” said Depp.
Depp then proceeded to explain how Heard punched him in the face right under his eye.
“Is that what you wanted, or would you like another?” said Depp.
He explained how Heard hit him a second time, in the same spot. This situation made many viewers question who they believed.
Netflix’s goal in this documentary was to inform viewers about this case and why it went to trial. Depp versus Heard, innocent versus guilty, this series provided evidence and statements for both sides.
